So that was it, I decided I would do what I've been waiting for a long time to do whilst at uni away from the car, before the 13s would go back on for the good weather. Having already made a rear gearbox mount which didn't hang low, I needed to raise the wishbone mounts to match. I'd had a few ideas about how I could do it already, but after chatting to a lad off the Mk1 Owners Club who had already done the modification, was inspired about how I could do it more simply. (thanks Oli)

The way I had gone about this had me thinking about whether it would affect wheel position and track, so I tried on the hub assembly and suspension, and yep, just as I had expected the wheel sat about 15mm too far back in the wheel arch.

So went about cutting about the wishbones to move the bottom balljoint further forward. Made a little jig so that both wishbones would be the same.

Tacked in place and tested it on the car, much better!

Having previously had a lower chassis brace fitted and noticing the difference it made, I decided I didn't want to go back to not having one, especially as I had just cut fuck out of the mounts which it braced. I decided to weld a permanent one on, but this meant that the engine was in the way, so the only way around that was to raise the engine...

And after running brake and fuel lines through the car, finally fitted rear wheels and dropped it to the floor. Still got a few bits to do before its driveable.
